Female bodies in games. Why have them even talk really?
There was a time when G4 had a brain. It really did strive once to be a voice of wisdom for nerd culture. However no good thing comes without a struggle, and frankly G4 gave up. They transformed into a mirror of the geek communities worst attributes, sexism, bullying, degradation, disrespect and disdain. They went from being a network that really tried to interpret a culture for those who didn't fully understand, into a machine that tried to control it with gimmicks and pandering. Case and point: Video Game Vixens.
Its disgusting how female characters in video games are highly sexualized. From their way of dress and the body proportions, everything is sex. Its sad that a network like G4 gave into societal notions of sexuality and derailed from their original purpose.
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy how disproportionate woman are portrayed in games and also probably gives youths a misconception of what is pretty or cool. It is also noticeable in men of games as well, since they are now extremely large and well defined. Something that could make youths think steroids is acceptable.
